Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Alberto Giacometti achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in October 2017. In the Up Close An Evening Auction auction, the work Homme (Apollon) sold for GBP 3,488,750.00 (€ 3,977,857.89) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,200,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Alberto Giacometti achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work L'homme au doigt in May 2015 with an auction result of USD 141,285,000.00 (€ 128,511,006.00).
