Artwork auctioned at five times the upper estimate price
When the work Stabile With Mobile Element by Alexander Calder was auctioned at Christies in New York in November 2015, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 700,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than five times as high at USD 4,085,000.00 (€ 3,867,638.70). Admittedly, works by Alexander Calder have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Poisson volant (Flying Fish) in May 2014 with an auction result of USD 25,925,000.00 (€ 19,006,598.24).
Kunstwerk zum Fünffachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Stabile With Mobile Element von Alexander Calder im November 2015 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – USD 700.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit USD 4.085.000,00 (€ 3.867.638,70) mehr als fünfmal so hoch. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Alexander Calder auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Poisson volant (Flying Fish) im Mai 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 25.925.000,00 (€ 19.006.598,24).
