This artwork by André Hambourg achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in May 2017. In the Impressionist and Modern Art Day Sale auction, the work L'été à Deauville sold for USD 35,000.00 (€ 31,149.88) - well above the upper estimate of USD 20,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by André Hambourg; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Première de planches à voile dans l'estuaire de la Touques sold at auction in May 2015 with the realized price of USD 56,250.00 (€ 51,164.27).
