This price was achieved in the auction Impressionist & Modern Art Evening Sale at Sothebys in New York and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of USD 700,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by André Lhote; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot La danse au bar (Gypsy Bar) sold at auction in November 2007 with the realized price of USD 2,729,000.00 (€ 1,857,979.30).
