Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Auguste Salzmann could be acquired at Bonhams in New York in April 2021 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Photographs auction, the work Vallée de Josaphat, Tombeau d'Absalon; and Jérusalem, Beit-Lehem, Vue générale 2 changed hands for USD 3,825.00 (€ 3,179.55) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Admittedly, works by Auguste Salzmann have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Jérusalem: Tombeau Des Juges, Vue Générale; Tombeau Des Juges, 1854 in November 2004 with an auction result of GBP 11,950.00 (€ 17,190.01).
