Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In November 2019 Christies in New York held the auction Post-War and Contemporary Art Evening Sale, which included the work Untitled 4, 1950 by Barnett Newman. The »bidding war« ended at USD 10,490,000.00 (€ 9,519,920.14), 17% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Barnett Newman have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Black Fire I in May 2014 with an auction result of USD 84,165,000.00 (€ 61,704,545.45).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im November 2019 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Post-War and Contemporary Art Evening Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Untitled 4, 1950 von Barnett Newman zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 10.490.000,00 (€ 9.519.920,14) und damit 17% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Barnett Newman auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Black Fire I im Mai 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 84.165.000,00 (€ 61.704.545,45).
