BRASSAÏ (1899–1984) Aux Bal Musette "Les Quatre Saisons", Rue de Lappe, 1932 ferrotyped gelatin silver print signed, titled and dated in pencil, stamped photographer's '31 Rue du Faub- St. Jacques' twice, one with copyright credit, and annotated in ink (verso) image/sheet: 9 x 6 1/4 in. (22.8 x 15.8 cm.)
Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Brassaï could be acquired at Christies in London in October this year for an unexpectedly low price. In the A Century of Art: Photographs from The Gerald Fineberg Collection auction, the work Aux Bal Musette "Les Quatre Saisons", Rue de Lappe, 1932 changed hands for USD 8,820.00 (€ 8,345.95) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 12,000.00 – 18,000.00. Admittedly, works by Brassaï have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Ciel Postiche (False Sky) in April 2001 with an auction result of USD 44,650.00 (€ 50,315.53).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Brassaï konnte im Oktober diesen Jahres bei Christies in London für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion A Century of Art: Photographs from The Gerald Fineberg Collection wechselte die Arbeit Aux Bal Musette "Les Quatre Saisons", Rue de Lappe, 1932 für USD 8.820,00 (€ 8.345,95) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 12.000,00 – 18.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Brassaï auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Ciel Postiche (False Sky) im April 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 44.650,00 (€ 50.315,53).
