Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work Altarpiece #3 by Dinh Q. Lê was auctioned at Phillips in New York in April 2021, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 18,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at USD 56,700.00 (€ 47,132.17). Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Dinh Q. Lê; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Untitled (helicopter, Apocalypse Now, prayers) sold at auction in April 2021 with the realized price of USD 63,000.00 (€ 52,369.08).
Kunstwerk zum Dreifachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Altarpiece #3 von Dinh Q. Lê im April 2021 bei Phillips in New York versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – USD 18.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit USD 56.700,00 (€ 47.132,17) mehr als dreimal so hoch. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Dinh Q. Lê; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Untitled (helicopter, Apocalypse Now, prayers) im April 2021 mit dem Hammerpreis von USD 63.000,00 (€ 52.369,08).
