Auction result well in line with expectations
In November last year Christies in Paris held the auction Photographies, which included the work Mines #22, Kennecott Copper Mine, Bingham Valley, Utah, 1983 by Edward Burtynsky. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of EUR 12,000.00 – 18,000.00, the actual price achieved of EUR 12,600.00 could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Edward Burtynsky have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Nickel Tailings #34 and #35, Sudbury, Ontario in October 2014 with an auction result of USD 100,000.00 (€ 79,808.46).
