In October 2021 Christies held the auction Photographs, which included the work Shipbreaking #2, Chittagong, Bangladesh, 2000 by Edward Burtynsky. The result of USD 15,000.00 (€ 12,984.76) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 15,000.00 – 25,000.00. Admittedly, works by Edward Burtynsky have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Nickel Tailings #34 and #35, Sudbury, Ontario in October 2014 with an auction result of USD 100,000.00 (€ 79,808.46).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im Oktober 2021 führte Christies die Auktion Photographs durch, in der auch die Arbeit Shipbreaking #2, Chittagong, Bangladesh, 2000 von Edward Burtynsky zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 15.000,00 (€ 12.984,76) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 15.000,00 – 25.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Edward Burtynsky auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Nickel Tailings #34 and #35, Sudbury, Ontario im Oktober 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 100.000,00 (€ 79.808,46).
