Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Empire State Building ('58 Chevy Biscayne), 1959 by Edward Pfizenmaier was auctioned at Christies in New York in December 2010, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 2,500.00 – 3,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,875.00 (€ 1,413.07). Admittedly, works by Edward Pfizenmaier have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Wollman Rink, Central Park, New York, 1954 in December 2009 with an auction result of USD 10,000.00 (€ 6,977.39).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Empire State Building ('58 Chevy Biscayne), 1959 von Edward Pfizenmaier im Dezember 2010 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 2.500,00 – 3.500,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 1.875,00 (€ 1.413,07) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Edward Pfizenmaier auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Wollman Rink, Central Park, New York, 1954 im Dezember 2009 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 10.000,00 (€ 6.977,39).
