This artwork by Francis Picabia achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in February 2001. In the The Art of the Surreal auction, the work Phoebus sold for GBP 575,750.00 (€ 902,062.50) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 260,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Francis Picabia achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Pavonia in March last year with an auction result of EUR 9,996,700.00.
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Francis Picabia erzielte im Februar 2001 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion The Art of the Surreal wurde die Arbeit Phoebus für GBP 575.750,00 (€ 902.062,50) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 260.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Francis Picabia erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Pavonia im März letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 9.996.700,00.
