The work Cage 5 (P19-5) by Gerhard Richter was auctioned at Sothebys in Cologne in November 2021. It achieved a price of EUR 21,420.00 exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 53 %. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gerhard Richter achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Abstraktes Bild in February 2015 with an auction result of GBP 30,389,000.00 (€ 41,901,917.57).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 53 % übertroffen
Die Arbeit Cage 5 (P19-5) von Gerhard Richter kam im November 2021 bei Sothebys in Köln zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von EUR 21.420,00 und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 53 %. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Gerhard Richter erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Abstraktes Bild im Februar 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 30.389.000,00 (€ 41.901.917,57).
