The »bidding war« ended at EUR 53,550.00 53% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Gilles Aillaud - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Grande mer bleue, which sold at auction in October 2021 for EUR 200,000.00.

Die Arbeit Hippopotame Et Arbre À L'Envers von Gilles Aillaud wurde im Dezember 2012 in der Auktion Art Contemporain bei Sothebys in Paris versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von EUR 53.550,00 und damit 53% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Gilles Aillaud mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Grande mer bleue beobachtet, die im Oktober 2021 für EUR 200.000,00 versteigert wurde.
