Artwork auctioned at four times the upper estimate price
The work Sexy Robot_Walking In The Space by Hajime Sorayama was worth HKD 4,032,000.00 (€ 431,688.78) to a buyer in April 2021. This price was achieved in the auction Contemporary Art Evening Sale at Sothebys in Hong Kong and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of HKD 900,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Hajime Sorayama; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Sexy Robot, Life Size Seating Model B sold at auction in December 2021 with the realized price of HKD 5,750,000.00 (€ 651,307.65).
