Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Girl in Veiled Hat (Jean Patchett), New York, August 18, 1949 by Irving Penn was sold in the Photographs auction at Christies in New York in April this year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 30,240.00 (€ 27,391.30) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Irving Penn achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Woman in Moroccan Palace (Lisa Fonssagrives-Penn), 1951 in November 2011 with an auction result of EUR 361,000.00.

Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 30.240,00 (€ 27.391,30) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
