Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Honfleur, Maisons sur les quais by Jean Baptiste Camille Corot was auctioned at Christies in New York in May 2018, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,000,000.00 – 1,500,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 612,500.00 (€ 524,850.04). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jean Baptiste Camille Corot achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Venise, vue du Quai des Esclavons in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 9,009,844.00 (€ 7,720,517.57).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Honfleur, Maisons sur les quais von Jean Baptiste Camille Corot im Mai 2018 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.000.000,00 – 1.500.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 612.500,00 (€ 524.850,04) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jean Baptiste Camille Corot erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Venise, vue du Quai des Esclavons im Mai 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 9.009.844,00 (€ 7.720.517,57).
