Auction result well in line with expectations

It changed hands for a price of USD 845,000.00 (€ 800,037.87) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 600,000.00 – 900,000.00. Admittedly, works by Jean Metzinger have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Le Cycliste in February 2020 with an auction result of GBP 3,015,000.00 (€ 3,494,391.84).

Die Arbeit Moulin À Café, Verre À Pied Et Boîte De Thé von Jean Metzinger kam im November 2015 bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 845.000,00 (€ 800.037,87) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 600.000,00 – 900.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Jean Metzinger auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Le Cycliste im Februar 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 3.015.000,00 (€ 3.494.391,84).
