Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Minna, Northern California, 1981 by Jock Sturges was auctioned at Christies in New York in February 2005, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,200.00 (€ 904.02). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jock Sturges achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Fanny, Montalivet, 2001 in September 2014 with an auction result of USD 40,000.00 (€ 31,675.64).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Minna, Northern California, 1981 von Jock Sturges im Februar 2005 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 1.200,00 (€ 904,02) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jock Sturges erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Fanny, Montalivet, 2001 im September 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 40.000,00 (€ 31.675,64).
