Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Ed, Foot Hold by Julian Opie was sold in the Post-War & Contemporary Art auction at Bonhams in March this year. It achieved a price of GBP 69,600.00 (€ 79,183.44), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 16%. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Julian Opie - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Walking in London in the rain, which sold at auction in June last year for CHF 189,000.00 (€ 189,036.11).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Ed, Foot Hold von Julian Opie wurde im März diesen Jahres in der Auktion Post-War & Contemporary Art bei Bonhams versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 69.600,00 (€ 79.183,44) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 16%. Für andere Arbeiten von Julian Opie mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Walking in London in the rain beobachtet, die im Juni letzten Jahres für CHF 189.000,00 (€ 189.036,11) versteigert wurde.
