Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Candlestick Point by Lewis Baltz was auctioned at Christies in New York in April 2001, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 15,000.00 – 20,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 14,100.00 (€ 15,889.11). Admittedly, works by Lewis Baltz have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Candlestick Point in April 2018 with an auction result of USD 118,750.00 (€ 98,351.83).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Candlestick Point von Lewis Baltz im April 2001 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 15.000,00 – 20.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 14.100,00 (€ 15.889,11) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Lewis Baltz auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Candlestick Point im April 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 118.750,00 (€ 98.351,83).
