Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Three spheres II (Drie bollen) (B.339) by Maurits Cornelis Escher was auctioned at Christies in Amsterdam in November 2000. The price achieved of NLG 35,106.00 (€ 16,446.60) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as NLG 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Maurits Cornelis Escher achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Reptiles (Bool 327) in April last year with an auction result of USD 756,000.00 (€ 717,471.77).
