Auction result well in line with expectations
The work La saveur des larmes by René Magritte was sold in the The Art of the SurrealEvening Sale auction at Christies in London in February 2006. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 200,000.00 – 300,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 209,600.00 (€ 308,274.58) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by René Magritte achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work L’empire des lumières in March last year with an auction result of GBP 59,422,000.00 (€ 70,451,468.85).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit La saveur des larmes von René Magritte wurde im Februar 2006 in der Auktion The Art of the SurrealEvening Sale bei Christies in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 200.000,00 – 300.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 209.600,00 (€ 308.274,58) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von René Magritte erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit L’empire des lumières im März letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 59.422.000,00 (€ 70.451.468,85).
