(44.4 x 34.6 cm.) This work is number nineteen from an edition of seventy-five from the Avedon/Paris portfolio printed in 1978.

Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%

This artwork by Richard Avedon achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in April this year. In the Photographs auction, the work Marlene Dietrich, Turban by Dior The Ritz Paris, August 1955 sold for USD 40,320.00 (€ 36,521.74) - well above the upper estimate of USD 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Richard Avedon achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Beatles Portfolio: John Lennon, Ringo Starr, George Harrison and Paul McCartney, London in November last year with an auction result of GBP 809,000.00 (€ 937,446.28).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Richard Avedon erzielte im April diesen Jahres bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Photographs wurde die Arbeit Marlene Dietrich, Turban by Dior The Ritz Paris, August 1955 für USD 40.320,00 (€ 36.521,74) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 15.000,00.
