Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In November 2021 Sothebys in London held the auction Contemporary Curated, which included the work Bondage by Robert Mapplethorpe. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 8,190.00 (€ 9,615.83), 17% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Robert Mapplethorpe achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Self-Portrait in October 2017 with an auction result of GBP 548,750.00 (€ 625,682.41).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im November 2021 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Contemporary Curated durch, in der auch die Arbeit Bondage von Robert Mapplethorpe zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 8.190,00 (€ 9.615,83) und damit 17% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Robert Mapplethorpe erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Self-Portrait im Oktober 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 548.750,00 (€ 625.682,41).
