Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Salvador Dalí achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in June 2017. In the Impressionist and Modern Works on Paper auction, the work André Breton le Tamanoir sold for GBP 46,250.00 (€ 52,670.12) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 18,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Salvador Dalí achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait De Paul Éluard in February 2011 with an auction result of GBP 13,481,250.00 (€ 15,879,784.58).
