Auction result well in line with expectations
In April 2007 Christies in New York held the auction Photographs, which included the work Beer Bottle after the A-Bomb Explosion, 1961 by Shomei Tomatsu. The price achieved of USD 3,600.00 (€ 2,635.43) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Shomei Tomatsu achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Untitled (series 'Chewing Gum and Chocolate, Yokosuka'), 1958 in November last year with an auction result of EUR 37,800.00.
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im April 2007 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Photographs durch, in der auch die Arbeit Beer Bottle after the A-Bomb Explosion, 1961 von Shomei Tomatsu zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 3.600,00 (€ 2.635,43) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Shomei Tomatsu erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Untitled (series 'Chewing Gum and Chocolate, Yokosuka'), 1958 im November letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 37.800,00.
