In February 2009 Sothebys in New York held the auction Impressionist and Modern Art, which included the work Portrait Of A Woman by Václav Špála. The »bidding war« ended at USD 8,750.00 (€ 6,910.44), 25% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Václav Špála achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Czech thunderstorm By The River Otava (Bouře U Otavy) in June 2011 with an auction result of GBP 187,250.00 (€ 207,157.32).

Im Februar 2009 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Impressionist and Modern Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait Of A Woman von Václav Špála zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 8.750,00 (€ 6.910,44) und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Václav Špála erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Czech thunderstorm By The River Otava (Bouře U Otavy) im Juni 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 187.250,00 (€ 207.157,32).
