ART COLOGNE: Special exhibition with works by the Hungarian LGBTQAI+ community

After being postponed several times, this year's 54th ART COLOGNE will now take place between 17 and 21 November. The highlights of the international fair are the two special exhibitions with works from the collection of the Landesbank Baden-Württemberg and works from the art community Queer Budapest.

After being postponed several times, ART COLOGNE will now take place from 17 to 21 November. While 17 and 18 November are scheduled as preview days for invited guests as well as the vernissage, the exhibition grounds will be open to visitors on 19 and 21 November.

As one of the most important international events of its kind, ART COLOGNE presents top-class art of the 20th and 21st centuries every year. Around 200 renowned galleries from over 20 countries are given the opportunity to exhibit and market contemporary works from all price categories and by over 2,000 artists. Young art is also close to the organiser's heart: in the NEW POSITIONS sector, for example, young newcomers are given the chance to take part in a promotional programme that allows them to show their own works in separate promotional booths next to the stands of their gallery owners. In the NEW MARKET sector, the fair offers a platform under the title »cutting edge art« for galleries that have been in existence for a maximum of ten years.

A special feature this year is the special show with works from the collection of the Landesbank Baden-Württemberg (LBBW). With works by artists such as Raymond Pettibon, Rosemarie Trockel and Wolfgang Tillmans, visitors will learn more about the lively history of the collection under the title What - if Could - Be.

The exhibition Queer Budapest, based on the platform of the same name for artists, also offers cutting-edge topics: it provides insights into Hungary's queer art and creative scene, points to the resilience and creative power that emerges from the resistance of Hungarian politics, which wants to »banish the LGBTQAI+ community into social invisibility«.

Parallel to ART COLOGNE, COLOGNE FINE ART & DESIGN and EXPONATEC COLOGNE will also be held in Cologne during this period.Art.Salon
