The revival of the NFT hype?

On Twitter, digital artist Beeple announced his latest project. In his home town of Charleston, South Carolina, he is having a disused warehouse converted into his new studio. At the same time, it will serve as an exhibition space for other NFT artists. The artist hopes that this step into the analogue world will help the NFT scene to reach new heights. After the hype surrounding digital artworks over the past two years, it had become relatively quiet: The prices of NFTs have fallen as rapidly as they had risen before.

Beeple's record sales played a crucial role in the success of the young medium. In March 2021, Christie's auctioned his NFT Everyday: The First 5,000 Days for 69.3 million US dollars. With his new studio, Beeple now plans to repeatedly pioneer the NFT scene. »Coming together and experiencing digital artwork IRL is something that I think will help bring in the next wave of collectors«, he wrote, »and that is precisely what we need to move past this bear market.«Art.Salon
