Berlin: Double exhibition by the ep.contemporary art forum with Henning Haupt

Forms of exchange: artistic contrasts and similarities

In the run-up to Berlin Art Week, the Berlin art forum ep.contemporary is showing two thematically coordinated exhibitions, wenn überhaupt, dann ist das das Besondere und … gerade deshalb (if anything, then that's what makes it special and ... that’s exactly why). They open simultaneously on August 14. Both exhibitions feature works by Henning Haupt, who participates in the Art.Salon artist program.

Four artists have been regularly exchanging ideas for years, and now they are showing their work together for the first time in an exhibition: Berlin's Kunstforum ep.contemporary presents wenn überhaupt, dann ist das das Besondere (if anything, then that's what makes it special), featuring works by Jahna Dahms, Henning Haupt, Stefan Lenke, and Ina Weise. The diversity of their positions, ranging from conceptual sculpture to painting to site-specific intervention, creates open spaces for association. The works address questions of materiality, form, and memory and invite critical engagement. Parallel to this, ep.contemporary is opening the exhibition ... gerade deshalb (that's exactly why), which contrasts with the color reduction of the first show while complementing its content. This exhibition also features works by Henning Haupt and nine other artists. Both presentations open on August 14 at 6 p.m. and end on September 14. To mark the opening of Berlin Art Week, which runs from September 10 to 14, an artist talk with the exhibiting artists will take place on September 10 at 6 p.m.

The artistic work of Henning Haupt, who participates in the Art.Salon artist program, encompasses painting, drawing, and installation. In various contexts, he focuses on the perception of color spaces and their relationship to three-dimensional space constructed by humans. In the double exhibition at ep.contemporary, he shows works that deal with the intuitive impetus in the materials of painting on the one hand and the digital and serial production of installations in space on the other. Since 2020, Haupt has been head of the Chair of Design Theory at the Faculty of Architecture at TU Dresden; previously, he was an associate professor at Florida Atlantic University.Art.Salon
