Many newcomers at ArtVilnius in Lithuania

The only fair of its kind in the region, ArtVilnius is dedicated to exhibiting democratically contemporary art from as many (Eastern) European countries as possible. The fair will be held in three halls of LITEXPO from October 15 to 17, 2021.

ArtVilnius aims not only to act as a bridge between East and West, but also to appeal to a broad audience as well as new collectors with this year's motto "Don't need to be an art expert for it to thrill you." For longtime connoisseurs, one attraction is the many galleries that will be there for the first time. A total of 55 galleries from all corners of Europe will take part this fall.

ArtVilnius is especially known for its large-scale sculptures and installations, which will be presented in the show The Path. 22 artists were selected for it by curator Vytenis Burokas. The show also includes guided discussions about these artworks. A new feature is the offering of NFTs, which will take place near the video art exhibition, which itself is part of the fair for the fifth time. Another highlight this year is art on and made of paper. Thus, the growing importance of this medium on the art market, which can often serve as an entry point for young collectors, is also properly represented at ArtVilnius.

Three halls of the exhibition center LITEXPO cover the fair, which traditionally includes the awarding of five prizes, among others for the best gallery and the best installation.Art.Salon

Dive deeper into the art world

London: The National Gallery

Ferdinand Georg Waldmüller is often associated with the Biedermeier period, yet his paintings—especially his landscapes, which he created outdoors from life—tell a different story. For the first time, an exhibition of the painter’s work is coming to the United Kingdom: Waldmüller: Landscapes opens on July 2 at the National Gallery in London.
