On October 10, 2021, Vienna's Albertina MODERN will open a large-scale exhibition that should attract many visitors: The 80s. Anything Goes is dedicated entirely to the decade that stands for departure and a paradigm shift. Among the leaders of their time were the young generation of artists: Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, Julian Schnabel, Jack Goldstein, Isolde Joham, Julia Wachtel, Richard Prince, Sherrie Levine, Cindy Sherman, Elaine Sturtevant, Gerwald Rockenschaub, and David Salle will be on display in the Albertina MODERN exhibition spaces until February 2022 as part of the 80s exhibition.

Their significant influence on contemporary art historiography will be brought to life for visitors, sometimes through the richness of facets and the joy of exploring materials and media. Vienna's Albertina presents the decade as a time of visual abundance, individual styles, and endless stories, as well as the resulting urge toward narrative and exuberant imagery. There, the pop and street art scene is lined up with neo-expressionism or concept and performance art.Art.Salon

More than a year later than planned, the grand Modigliani retrospective at the Albertina in Vienna will finally open on 17 September 2021. Until 9 January 2022, Modigliani will not be shown as the »last Bohemian« as usual, but as an avant-gardist and leading force of primitivism.
