No Place is an Island, the title of the Photo50 section at the London Art Fair, could not be better chosen in times of a global pandemic: 14 selected photographers present their latest works on this theme. They explore the contrasts of connectedness and isolation, exposing the latter as a thought construct. Photo50 has been a staple of the London Art Fair for years, taking place as usual at the Business Design Centre in Islington, London, with over 100 galleries participating. From January 19-23, 2022, young artists will be showcased alongside works by famous 20th-century artists. Due to the postponement of the BRAFA Art Fair in Brussels, which was also scheduled to take place at the end of January and normally enjoys the role of kicking off each new art year, the London fair and the artists represented will now be all the more in focus.
Numerous Talks & Tours, in which curators and artists provide exciting insights into their work and the art world, will accompany the fair, as will a completely new section: the New Media Room. Film and new media are the focus of this section, curated by Pryle Behrman under the title Dreams Must Explain Themselves. Interactive Sculptures and Digital Art give an idea of what art fairs around the world could look like in the future if demand for these art forms continues to grow.
