From Norway to Turkey, from Portugal to Russia, artists from about three quarters of all European countries are represented in the exhibition. The second of a total of three hosts is Moscow's Tretyakov Gallery, which traditionally has a strong focus on Russian artists and consciously seeks to shape the cultural identity of the Russian nation-state. Along with the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, the Tretyakov Gallery is one of Russia's largest and most famous art museums.

With "Diversity United", the museum is opening up towards Europe and is thus an ideal host for this exhibition: only works of art created after the end of the Iron Curtain will be shown. The great importance of intercultural dialogue and its impact on art are the subject of the show, whereby country- and artist-specific developments are not forgotten.
On display are approximately 200 works of art by renowned artists such as Monica Bonvicini, Georg Baselitz, Sonia Boyce, Rineke Dijkstra, Olafur Eliasson, Alicja Kwade, Annette Messager, Tal R, Paula Rego, Gerhard Richter, Ugo Rondinone and Yinka Shonibare. The exhibition will then open in Paris next year.
