Berlin: Agata Kycia at the Galerie Froschke

Visual constructions: Two artists in creative exchange

Art on spatial structures and their perception: The exhibition contra:punkt at Galerie Froschke presents two different artistic positions that, on closer inspection, have a lot in common. One of the artists is Agata Kycia from the Art.Salon artist program. The vernissage will take place on March 8 in Berlin.

Two positions with hidden similarities: Agata Kycia and Ute Wennrich both worked as architects before also becoming active as visual artists. In the exhibition contra:punkt, their works are now juxtaposed and it becomes clear how different they are despite their thematic affinity. In her collages, assemblages and object art, Wennrich focuses on the investigation of spatial structures. Based on her interest in spatial perception and geometry, Kycia, who is participating in the Art.Salon artist program, examines the relationship between digital technologies and material practices. She combines printmaking with painting, drawing and embroidery, bringing together technical precision and the natural imperfection of human craftsmanship. The vernissage of the exhibition will take place on March 8 at 4 pm at the Galerie Froschke in Berlin, where it will be on display until April 26.

Berlin-based architect and artist Agata Kycia also works with textiles and ceramics. She enriches many of her artworks with personal experiences as a woman and mother, making them a visual expression of emotions. As a researcher, Kycia also explores the potential of combining material science and digital design. In 2021, she received her doctorate in engineering from the TU Berlin with a thesis on material-informed design strategies through 3D printing on textiles.
