In December 2000 Christies in London held the auction OLD MASTER, MODERN AND CONTEMPORARY PRINTS, which included the work The Whore of Babylon, from The Apocalypse (B. 73; M., Holl. 177) by Albrecht Dürer. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 3,525.00 (€ 5,615.29), 60% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Albrecht Dürer achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Christ Being Nailed To The Cross in January 2016 with an auction result of USD 874,000.00 (€ 806,868.54).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 60 % übertroffen
Im Dezember 2000 führte Christies in London die Auktion OLD MASTER, MODERN AND CONTEMPORARY PRINTS durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Whore of Babylon, from The Apocalypse (B. 73; M., Holl. 177) von Albrecht Dürer zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 3.525,00 (€ 5.615,29) und damit 60% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Albrecht Dürer erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Christ Being Nailed To The Cross im Januar 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 874.000,00 (€ 806.868,54).
