Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Shopping Crowd 1 by Alex Katz was sold in the 20th Century to Now auction at Phillips in London in June this year. The price achieved of GBP 69,850.00 (€ 81,293.37) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 60,000.00 – 80,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Alex Katz achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Blue Umbrella I in October 2019 with an auction result of GBP 3,375,000.00 (€ 3,914,757.96).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Shopping Crowd 1 von Alex Katz wurde im Juni diesen Jahres in der Auktion 20th Century to Now bei Phillips in London versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 69.850,00 (€ 81.293,37) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 60.000,00 – 80.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Alex Katz erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Blue Umbrella I im Oktober 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 3.375.000,00 (€ 3.914.757,96).
