Signed and dated lower right A. Zötl fecit am 19 Juni 1877 and inscribed Vögel u. Pflanzen Tab. lower left ; Der Gujavenbaum. Psidium pomiferum. Linne gleicht an Grösse einen Apfelbaum 18 bis 25 Fuss hoch. Ist in West- indien und auf dem benachbarten Continente Südamerikas einheimisch, jetzt aber überall zwischen den Wendetreisen, der wohl, schmekenden Früchte [...] lower in the middle ;

Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2020 Sothebys in Paris held the auction Oeuvres sur Papier, which included the work Study Of Birds And Guava by Aloys Zötl. The price achieved of EUR 11,875.00 was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as EUR 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Aloys Zötl achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Male And Female Pipas in March 2018 with an auction result of EUR 137,500.00.
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juni 2020 führte Sothebys in Paris die Auktion Oeuvres sur Papier durch, in der auch die Arbeit Study Of Birds And Guava von Aloys Zötl zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von EUR 11.875,00 lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit EUR 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Aloys Zötl erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Male And Female Pipas im März 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 137.500,00.
