Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In July 2020 Christies in Hong Kong held the auction Modern and Contemporary Art Evening Sale, which included the work Peony and Dahlia No. 2 by Cai Guo-Qiang. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 4,685,000.00 (€ 513,304.74), 17% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Cai Guo-Qiang - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Project For Extraterrestrials No.10, Project To Extend The Great Wall Of China, which sold at auction in October 2007 for HKD 20,487,500.00 (€ 1,826,712.40).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Juli 2020 führte Christies in Hong Kong die Auktion Modern and Contemporary Art Evening Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Peony and Dahlia No. 2 von Cai Guo-Qiang zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 4.685.000,00 (€ 513.304,74) und damit 17% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Cai Guo-Qiang mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Project For Extraterrestrials No.10, Project To Extend The Great Wall Of China beobachtet, die im Oktober 2007 für HKD 20.487.500,00 (€ 1.826.712,40) versteigert wurde.
