Auction result well in line with expectations
In April last year Sothebys in London held the auction Contemporary Curated, which included the work Over the River (Project for Arkansas River, State of Colorado) by Christo. The price achieved of GBP 151,200.00 (€ 180,300.65) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 120,000.00 – 180,000.00. Admittedly, works by Christo have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Umbrellas (Joint project for Japan and USA) in February 2021 with an auction result of EUR 1,706,500.00.
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im April letzten Jahres führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Contemporary Curated durch, in der auch die Arbeit Over the River (Project for Arkansas River, State of Colorado) von Christo zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 151.200,00 (€ 180.300,65) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 120.000,00 – 180.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Christo auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Umbrellas (Joint project for Japan and USA) im Februar 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 1.706.500,00.
