Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In May 2012 Christies in New York held the auction Post-War and Contemporary Art Evening Sale, which included the work Untitled (PH-786, 1955-R) by Clyfford Still. The »bidding war« ended at USD 8,594,500 (€ 6,951,229), 23% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Clyfford Still have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work 1949-A-No . 1 in November 2011 with an auction result of USD 61,682,500 (€ 45,850,368).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Mai 2012 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Post-War and Contemporary Art Evening Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Untitled (PH-786, 1955-R) von Clyfford Still zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 8.594.500 (€ 6.951.229) und damit 23% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Clyfford Still auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit 1949-A-No . 1 im November 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 61.682.500 (€ 45.850.368).
