Auction result well in line with expectations
The work African American Flag by David Hammons was sold in the 20th Century & Contemporary Art Evening Sale auction at Phillips in New York in November 2018. The price achieved of USD 1,657,500.00 (€ 1,463,834.67) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 1,500,000.00 – 2,000,000.00. Admittedly, works by David Hammons have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work without title in November 2013 with an auction result of USD 8,005,000.00 (€ 5,883,433.78).

Die Arbeit African American Flag von David Hammons wurde im November 2018 in der Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art Evening Sale bei Phillips in New York versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 1.657.500,00 (€ 1.463.834,67) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 1.500.000,00 – 2.000.000,00 angegeben worden.
