In July last year Sothebys in New York held the auction Contemporary Discoveries, which included the work Hotel Acatlan: Two Weeks Later, from Moving Focus (M.C.A.T. 271) by David Hockney. The »bidding war« ended at USD 138,600.00 (€ 135,855.71), 54% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by David Hockney achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Nichols Canyon in December 2020 with an auction result of USD 41,067,500.00 (€ 33,579,313.16).
