Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Snake by David Hockney was sold in the Post War and Contemporary Art (Evening Sale) auction at Christies in New York in May 2003. The price achieved of USD 321,100.00 (€ 272,904.98) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 250,000.00 – 350,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by David Hockney achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Nichols Canyon in December 2020 with an auction result of USD 41,067,500.00 (€ 33,579,313.16).
