This artwork by Edward Pfizenmaier achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in April 2000. In the Photographs auction, the work Cecil Beaton photographing Marilyn Monroe sold for USD 4,465.00 (€ 4,912.53) - well above the upper estimate of USD 2,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Edward Pfizenmaier; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Wollman Rink, Central Park, New York, 1954 sold at auction in December 2009 with the realized price of USD 10,000.00 (€ 6,977.39).
