Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work George Washington Bridge, New York by Edward Steichen was auctioned at Christies in New York in October 2000, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 8,000.00 – 10,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 7,637.50 (€ 9,000.12). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edward Steichen achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Flatiron in November last year with an auction result of USD 11,840,000.00 (€ 11,469,534.05).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit George Washington Bridge, New York von Edward Steichen im Oktober 2000 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 8.000,00 – 10.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 7.637,50 (€ 9.000,12) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Edward Steichen erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Flatiron im November letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 11.840.000,00 (€ 11.469.534,05).
