Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2019 Sothebys in London held the auction Contemporary Art Evening Auction, which included this untitled work by Ellen Gallagher. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 100,000.00 – 150,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 112,500.00 (€ 130,491.93) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Ellen Gallagher have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Deluxe in May 2013 with an auction result of USD 987,750.00 (€ 760,509.70).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2019 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Contemporary Art Evening Auction durch, in der auch diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Ellen Gallagher zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 100.000,00 – 150.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 112.500,00 (€ 130.491,93) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Ellen Gallagher auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Deluxe im Mai 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 987.750,00 (€ 760.509,70).
