This artwork by George Zimbel achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in February 2004. In the Photographs auction, the work Marilyn sold for USD 10,157.50 (€ 8,164.54) - well above the upper estimate of USD 5,500.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by George Zimbel; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Marilyn Monroe, The Seven Year Itch, 1954 sold at auction in December 2008 with the realized price of USD 13,750.00 (€ 9,878.58).

Dieses Kunstwerk von George Zimbel erzielte im Februar 2004 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Photographs wurde die Arbeit Marilyn für USD 10.157,50 (€ 8.164,54) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 5.500,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von George Zimbel; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Marilyn Monroe, The Seven Year Itch, 1954 im Dezember 2008 mit dem Hammerpreis von USD 13.750,00 (€ 9.878,58).
