Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2018 Christies in New York held the auction First Open Online: Post-War and Contemporary Art, which included this untitled work by Ibrahim Mahama. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 8,125.00 (€ 7,092.35) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ibrahim Mahama achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Ghanaianchale Wote in March 2018 with an auction result of GBP 75,000.00 (€ 85,391.64).
